Top counter came with a huge chip in the middle but we ended up painting/staining the counter top black to match our house. Luckily we were able to add wood filler, sand & then stain so you couldn’t even tell. Box was very heavy, island is heavy duty & beautiful!! Lots of space.new, so far is what i orderedDislikes: 1. Shipping of kitchen cabinet was awful. I received only the second box of two late but the had to wait nearly three weeks for the first box of two. Everything finally arrived together but would span 4 weeks and materials would remain waiting for 4 weeks. 2. Materials were scattered between the two boxes which made assembly difficult searching to gather parts to assemble each step in order. 3. Instructions are essentially diagrams only. Very little written explanations or helpful hints.Likes: 1. All parts identified clearly. 2. Parts needed were supplied and in good condition, 3. Assembly went well and worked well when assembled. 4. Wife was happy with her new kitchen cabinet, “Looks good John...Thank you”I think they decided to use pictures to assemble this thing because kids aren't being taught how to read and write in the public schools. That being said, if they are going to use pictures to assemble things like this, the least they could do is make them clearer! Poorly pictured instructions, but once I got the thing assembled, everything looked good and all the holes were there and in the correct places. All the hardware was there. (one defective screw). I think most of the people complaining about the drawers not closinging and hitting the top or the doors not closing correctly are reading the pictures wrong or missing important information hidden in the pictures. It helps to lay all the parts from both seperatly shipped cartons out before you begin and then carefully go over the hieroglghics before you begin. Good luck!The product came in two separate boxes. There were no pieces missing. This was a medium to hard assembly depending on your skill set. I am very familiar with putting together pieces like this so it took me 2 hours 50 mins to assemble it by myself. If you are not use to assembling furniture definitely get a second person to help. The instructions leave much to be desired but I believe they have an instructional video you can watch if you can't follow them. The piece once assembled looks very beautiful in our kitchen. It matches our existing cabinets very well and gives us plenty of extra storage and some additional counter space.While the assembly wasn't the easiest, I was able to donit alone in about 2 hours. It definitely does what we need it to do BUT for the cost, it is quite a bit more flimsy than we were expecting. Definitely not something we will be moving around much. It is pretty and again, will serve it's purpose. The other weird thing is that it came in two separate shipments a few days apart and were shipped through both UPS and FedEx.The finished outside is indeed beautiful. It’s very solid. Took 4 hours to put together, only because once together, I realized two of the shelves would not line up correctly. After consulting someone I took it back apart thinking maybe I did indeed flip one of the middle walls upside down. I realized that there was no way to incorrectly do this, but you never know... no there was no way to flip the wall (which would have indeed fixed the shelving issue). So I flipped the walls around. Moved one to the other side, I got closer to being more ‘even’ on the shelves this way, but they are still crooked.This is a manufacturer’s defect in the drilling of the holes. This could be a simple easy fix on their part. It does seem like some people do get the correct finished product.The drawers also catch when shutting on the bottom of the top surface.Those are my only two complaints.I just moved into my new home. I've been purchasing a lot of items that you put together yourself. They've all worked out very well. Then I bought this item. First of all that comes in two boxes and they came on two different days. That was a bit perplexing. Then when I went to put it together the instructions were horrible. You could barely make out the writing in the pictures. There are no written instructions, only pictures and bad pictures at that. The envelopes that hold the screws had most of the ink scratch off of them that told you what screws they were. The box says this could be put together by one adult. Well, I am one adult, and I've been working on this for 6 hours. I layed out all the parts by number and began. It was very difficult to line up pegs and holes. And it made many scars in the Finish because things were off center. This might have been different with a second adult to help hold things. There are no front and back markings. One has to look at the predrilled holes to try to figure it out. I think it was a lot of money for a lot of headache. I obviously got something wrong because the doors won't line up correctly. I just cant do it again. And I think it was way overpriced. I think this is the first bad review I've given about any product that I bought from Amazon. and, there's no way I can return it now.
