A soft start for an air conditioner--in this case a RV air conditioner--does one thing and does it well. It lowers the current/voltage needed to start up your AC compressor. That's good for a few reasons--it saves electricity, will theoretically extend the life of your AC and is quieter. It's easy to install assuming you enjoy working on engines and such. Otherwise, get a professional to do it. Not the most exciting product but it does a very important job. Highly recommended!
